Jensen Maritime Works With San Francisco Fire Department Fireboat

Jensen Maritime, a fully owned Crowley Maritime Corp. subsidiary company, has been chosen to supply detail production engineering and building management on an 88′ x 25′ Superb Pumper NFPA Kind II Fireboat for the San Francisco Fire Department. Jensen finished the fireboat contract-design in the year 2012 for the city.

“We’re proud to utilize the San Francisco Fire Department again,” said Johan Sperling, Jensen vice president. “We have worked closely with them before and believe wholeheartedly that this exceptionally competent fireboat is going to be a genuine advantage to the section.”

Vigor Industrial, the leading provider of shipbuilding, ship repair and manufacturing that is sophisticated in Alaska and the Pacific Northwest, will construct the boat -acre facility. Due out in late summer 2015, the state of the art workboat will work within five miles of coast as well as the adjoining inland waterways San Pablo Bay as well as the Pacific Ocean.

“Vigor has an extensive history of working with Jensen and we’re proud to have the ability to continue that relationship together with the building of the new fireboat,” said Bryan Nichols, manager of sales at Vigor Fab. “Vigor’s shipbuilding best practices together with Jensen’s significant design expertise will make sure that the San Francisco Fire Department has a boat they could depend on for years ahead.”

The boat is made mainly patrol, rescue, emergency medical services and firefighting. It’s going to feature CBRNE (chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear, explosives) detection abilities, along with SCBAs (self contained breathing apparatus) and air supply that is local .

“We’ve developed a really good working relationship with Jensen,” said San Francisco Fire Chief Joanne Hayes-White. “They’ve designed a state of the art, multi-functional boat for us and we’re excited about getting our new Fireboat to the San Francisco Bay.”
